Why does the LeDeR programme need to have your personal details?

The LeDeR programme needs to know the personal details of people using the e-learning system. This is so that we can check that those people reviewing deaths of people with learning disabilities have received the proper training to be able to do so.

 

What personal information does the LeDeR programme e-learning system collect and why?

When you enter the e-learning system you will be asked for some personal details about you. This will include your name, your job role, who your employer is, and your email and telephone contact details.

You will not be able to access the e-learning system until you have provided this information.

 

What does the LeDeR programme do with personal information it receives?

If you are wanting to do reviewer training, we will let your Local Area Contact know that you have requested access to the LeDeR e-learning system. The Local Area Contact might contact you to discuss this with you, and to check that you have your employer’s approval to become a LeDeR reviewer.

If you are wanting to do Local Area Contact training, we will let your Regional Coordinator know that you have requested access to the LeDeR e-learning system. The Regional Coordinator might contact you to discuss this with you, and to check that you have your employer’s approval to become a LeDeR Local Area Contact.

You will be asked to consent to us sharing your information in this way before you can access the e-learning.

Once you have completed your training, we will ask your consent to add your contact details to the LeDeR contacts database so that we can share information with you as a LeDeR reviewer or Local Area Contact.

 

Who has access to my personal information?

The only people who will have access to your personal information on the LeDeR e-learning system are:

·        Your Local Area Contact to check that you have completed reviewer training satisfactorily

·        Your Regional Coordinator to check that you have completed Local Area Contact training satisfactorily

·        The Bristol-based LeDeR team who monitor the training of reviewers and Local Area Contacts to ensure that anyone with access to the secure LeDeR review system has received appropriate training.

 

How is my personal information kept safe and secure?

All of the data you submit to this site is secured using HTTPS and held on encrypted volumes within Amazon Web Services’ ISO27001 certified European Data Centres.

 

How long is my personal information is stored for?

We will keep your information for as long as you remain a LeDeR reviewer or Local Area Contact.

If you are no longer a reviewer or Local Area Contact, please let the Bristol-based team know and they will remove your details.

 

How can I complain about the use of my personal information?

If you want to complain about the use of your personal information, you can contact the LeDeR programme lead, Professor Pauline Heslop, or the University of Bristol’s Information Governance Manager. Their contact details are below.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) if you think there is a problem with the way we are handling your information.

The ICO is the UK’s independent authority set up to uphold information rights in the public interest, promoting openness by public bodies and data privacy for individuals.
